San Bernardino County Animal Care is excited to announce its partnership with Colton-Redlands-Yucaipa Regional Occupational Program and their Veterinary Assistant Program at Bloomington High School. This collaboration offers valuable hands-on experience for students aspiring to enter the veterinary field, while also providing essential care to shelter pets in need. Students gain confidence in their veterinary skills, while shelter pets receive necessary treatments in a collaborative environment. This partnership demonstrates the power of community collaboration, benefiting both education and animal welfare.

Through this partnership, Animal Care transports shelter pets to Bloomington High School’s fully equipped veterinary classroom, where students gain practical experience by performing basic veterinary procedures under the direct supervision of a registered veterinary technician. The program simulates a veterinary office, with students scheduling appointments, conducting examinations, and providing essential care. Under direct supervision, students are responsible for administering deworming medication and vaccinations, as well as performing grooming, bathing, and nail trimming on the shelter pets.
